The Pretrial Services Agency (PSA) is an independent agency within the Court Services and Offender Supervision Agency (CSOSA). PSA helps judicial officers in the Superior Court for the District of Columbia and the United States District Court for the District of Columbia with formulating defendant’s pretrial release recommendations and supervising defendants on conditional release return to court for trial and refrain from engaging in criminal activity.
PSA Services
Recognized as a leader in its pretrial drug testing and supervision and treatment programs, the PSA has provided services to the District of Columbia for over four decades. PSA monitors certain conditions of release imposed by the court, such as drug testing, electronic monitoring, and curfew. If certain conditions are not being followed, the assigned Pretrial Services Officer (PSO or case manager) notifies the court. While a case is pending, PSA assists defendants with voluntarily surrender on outstanding bench warrants, drug and mental health treatment, finding temporary shelter. PSA also provides information for resources on obtaining jobs and a GED.
