The Headquarters is conveniently located within walking distance of Judiciary Square Metro Station (Red Line) and Navy-Memorial-Archives Metro Station (Yellow and Green Line).

The Metropolitan Police Department is headquartered at the Henry J. Daly Building. The Daly building is located at 300 Indiana Avenue, NW, two blocks north of Pennsylvania Avenue between 4th and 5th Streets.

The Daly Building contains most of the administrative units of the Metropolitan Police Department and the probation and parole offices. Here, members of the public can obtain copies of police reports, traffic crash reports, register firearms, and register as sex offenders. The Daly Building is also home to the Department of Motor Vehicles Adjudication Services located at 301 C Street.

The Council of the District of Columbia named the building in honor of Sergeant Henry J. Daly, a 28-year veteran of the police force who was killed in the building by an armed intruder.
