Washington DC defense lawyer and founding partner of Price Benowitz LLP, David Benowitz, discusses what he loves most about being an attorney. This passion for helping people has only grown since he has been practicing law.
David Benowitz: My job is to help people who are in trouble. What I love most about being an attorney is working with people because people come to me, uniformly, at the worst moment in their life. What I want them to know is that I am as excited today to be talking to them and to figure out how to handle their problem and their case as I was the first day I started practicing law seventeen years ago. There is no other place I would rather be than when I’m in my office and someone is coming in and talking to me about their life and I’m getting to know them and they are telling me about why they are in trouble. I feel at that point that I am at the place and the time, and doing the thing that I’m supposed to be doing with my life. I love what I do. My favorite part about being a lawyer, what I love the most about it, is that I get to take the best parts of myself- my passion, my training, my experience- and I get to use that every day to help people with their cases.
