Washington DC DMV has eight locations that have limited functions.  Before going to any DC DMV Branch, it is advisable to attempt to handle as much as possible on the agency’s website, including setting an appointment to be seen and confirm that you are going to a branch that handles your specific needs.  In order to make you trip as smooth as possible, it is also advisable to make sure you have all current documentation for each transaction.

The DC DMV Offers some services on line including:

Duplicate Registration and Title Request; Personalized Tags; Inspection Appointment Scheduling;Adding and Updating Personal Information; Document Verification; Ticket Payments and Installment Plans; Schedule Minor Moving and Photo Enforcement Hearings; Email Ticket Alert Service; Driver License Renewal, Reinstatement, Verification, and Duplicates; Identification Card Verification and Renewal; and Road Test Appointment Scheduling

You may NOT obtain an original license, register a vehicle or change a name online because during these transactions you are required to present original documents in person at a DMV service location

For a complete listing of online services please check the DC DMV Web site.
